This year’s theme invites us all to #BreakTheBias by calling out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping wherever we see it. Reinforcing RICS’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion at work, we’re welcoming all in the surveying profession to come together for an event of celebration, reflection and paving a more inclusive and equitable future.
Hosted in RICS’s historic Great George Street, London office and streamed across the globe, join us for an event exploring women’s experiences in the profession.

RIBA Collections spotlight talk: Women photographers in the RIBA Collections
Join RIBA Learning and RIBA Photographs Curator Valeria Carullo for this online talking discussing the role of women in architectural photography. Discover the work of some outstanding women photographers in the RIBA Collections, from 19th century amateurs to 21st century professionals. The talk will feature the work of Ivy de Wolfe, Edith Tudor Hart and Monica Pidgeon. The talk will conclude with time for questions.
This event will take place online via Microsoft Teams. A link will be sent to registered ticket holders in advance of the event.

Women in Property
Panel Discussion – A Celebration of Strong Women
Join us to celebrate International Women’s Day with a virtual panel discussion celebrating strong, dynamic women across the construction industry. Chaired by Ann Allen, Chair of the Women in Property Scotland Board and CEO of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors. Ann will be joined by Samantha McCabe, Architect & Director of Sustainability at Oberlanders, Catherine Cope, Business Development Manager at Kier Construction, Freya Macleod, former Women in Property Student Awards Finalist and Spatial Designer and Hannah Lloyd, Highlands & Islands Branch Founder and Business Development Manager at Scottish Land & Estates.
The panel will share some of their personal journeys and career routes, their passions, the impact of strong women in their lives and we’re pretty sure they’ll share some of the challenges they’ve faced along the way. There will be an opportunity to ask questions too.

IWD 2022 celebration
This informal event will be a conversation between co-directors Akua Danso and Selasi Setufe MBE who was recently awarded an MBE for her services to diversity in architecture. They will speak about BFA’s achievements so far as well as their personal journey’s and work in the field.

Join Women in Architecture UK for a celebration of women architects who are breaking the bias in our sector and beyond, in honour of International Women’s Day 2022 on 8th March.
Come along to the BOSS Design Showroom to catch up with fellow women in architecture and hear from WIA committee members as they share stories of the women that inspire them.
We will also be celebrating our outgoing Chair Anna Schabel’s tenure at WIA, before she passes the baton on to her successor.

Women in Property – In conversation with Bev Craig and Becca Heron (Manchester)
Join us on International Women’s Day and hear from two incredible women, both new in their posts, leading from the front at Manchester City Council.
Bev Craig is the city’s first female LGBT Leader putting social value and equitable living high on the agenda, and Becca Heron, Strategic Director of Growth and Development, who led the forthcoming 3.2 hectare transformative Galleries project in Wigan before taking her post in Manchester in October 2021.
Members from Women in Property, Women in Social Housing, Women in Planning and Women in Construction are invited, along with finalists of the Women in Property Student Awards, and engineering students from the University of Manchester (UoM) Engineering campus.
The breakfast takes place in the Connect Café, part of UoM’s new Engineering Campus.

International Women’s Day at The National Gallery
The National Gallery is marking International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month with various online events celebrating women in the arts. Highlights include a forum exploring the way women artists have interacted with the national collection, and a lecture examining the role played by art historian Anna Jameson in the reception of Raphael’s work in the 19th century.
