Pride goes Virtual for 2020

2020 saw life move online and the virtual Pride in Property celebrated how far we have come as an industry.  This year Freehold combined with Changing the Face of Property, Planning Out and Building Equality to bring you 15 online events over two weeks. We enjoyed a coffee with CEO’s from some of the UK’s largest real estate businesses, they spoke about how the built environment recognises the importance of inclusion and the need to evolve.

We heard from about the First Pride from one of the founders of Stonewall Lisa Power and the CEO of Queer Britain, Joe Galliano and what we could do to protect LGBTQ+ venues in a post-Covid word when Professor Ben Campkin and Dr Lo Marshall of UCL’s Urban Lab delivered their report in to LGBTQ+ spaces in Camden in 1986-present.

There were also sessions on How to be an LGBTQ+ ally and an Introduction to Transgender.  Joe Galliano from Queer Britain joined Lisa Power, one of the founders of Stonewall to tell us more about the History of Pride celebrations.

The online celebration was rounded off with a brilliant discussion with representatives from Planning Out, Building Equality, LGBT+ Property Professionals and of course Freehold asking “What’s next for LGBTQ+ networks in the built environment?”
